Rockbridge’s very own academic team traveled to Broadway High School to compete in a Scholastic Bowl Jan.18. The competition was a district tournament and determined if the team would continue on to regionals.

The academic team has many players and they split up. They make six groups that compete and represent Rockbridge. At the competition, all six teams challenged other schools in the region and received a combined score of 14 – 4. 

One of the losses was in an intrasquad round, which is when two teams from RCHS compete against each other. During the intrasquad round, Rockbridge’s  ‘B’ team bested the ‘F’ team. 

Students on the academic team  said that Broadway High School is one of their top competitors. 

Sophomore Nicolas Faulds had good things to share about the competition.

“Overall we did well and I was happy with the outcome,” said Faulds.

Following the competition, the academic team will continue on to regionals and then possibly states.
