Hess Marches On

Jennifer Hess is the latest to tackle the seemingly ever-changing position of Band Director. However, this is not Hess’ first rodeo, as she previously worked as a special education teacher in Harrisonburg after graduating from James Madison University.
“So far the season has been going well,” said Hess.
Hess is currently enjoying a successful first nine weeks of the scholastic year. The marching band’s appearance at the county fair marked the first public performance of the season, and Hess’ career. Afterwards, Hess led the band through performances at home football games, marching competitions, and more recently, at Washington and Lee University.
Currently the sizes of her classes only have an average of 15 students per class.
“I really want to grow the program in all the classes. The program hasn’t had a chance to be consistent,” said Hess.
