Students Rank Top 10 Lunches at RCHS
Throughout time, RCHS staff has never failed to produce the students with a nutritious selection of lunch items. However, while these lunches can be classified as food, they are not always appetizing. Today we will examine the top ten selections at RCHS and what makes these the best or worst items on our menu and decide if these items are a school must or a disastrous bust.
After conducting a poll, it was found that 45.1% of students at Rockbridge get a school lunch daily, with 42.3% getting them sometimes and 9.9% never getting them. We also found that the top ten lunches at RCHS in order, according to the student body, were popcorn chicken, chicken sandwich, corn dog nuggets, pizza, side salad, taco bowl, chili, burger, bean burrito, with diced chicken and gravy following in the rear.
Sophomore Brady Edwards tells us his favorite item on the Rockbridge Wildcats menu.
“In my opinion, the best school lunch is the cheese bites. They are the best because nothing else compares to them,” said Edwards.
Sophomore Ella Culp gives her opinion on school lunches and explains why she chooses to consume one daily.
“I normally eat school lunches every day mostly because I’m too lazy to pack my own lunch, but it’s also a good way for my family to save money. I wouldn’t say that school lunches are all that great, but the Uncrustables are definitely my favorite,” said Culp.
Sophomore Reaghan Reynolds sums up the majority opinion when asked what her thoughts were on school lunches.
“I feel like they don’t serve enough food for everyone; sometimes people have to get stuff they don’t want and the lunches never fill me and keep me filled,” said Reynolds.
There were also concerns on whether or not school lunches at RCHS were very fresh. Junior Jackson Speers shares these concerns.
“I had mold on my apples today,” said Speers.
While there are valid concerns being raised over the freshness and quality of our food items at Rockbridge, overall, the school is doing its job by providing edible meals daily to the student body. It can be argued that they may not always meet the standards of a five-star meal, but as Culp put it… they are quick, free, and edible.
