The winter cheer team is preparing to cheer on the girls and boys basketball teams as they play this season. They are an experienced team of girls with many returning from last year.
The team has had to adapt to gym renovations and lack of available space around the area. Coach Shannon Bryan commented about the issue.
“We have had to adapt to sitting in the stands and cheering at the middle school while the highschool bleachers get fixed,” Bryan said.
Bryan was also asked about how the issue is being resolved within the team.
“Practices are split between learning how to do cheers without obstacles like bleachers and learning to do cheers in the middle school gym with the bleachers in the way,” Bryan said.
Senior Myranda Deacon has gone through changes caused by the new bleachers in the gym.
“This year was different in the beginning of the season because we had to adapt to cheering in the stands at Maury River due to new bleachers being built in our gym. We had to make sure we knew how to do the cheers sitting down which was very challenging” Deacon said. The team is looking forward to cheering this season and are accepting the challenge of adversity throughout the year.
