Since Quincy and I have only been eating Mexican food in our series (Taqueria Jalisco, Don Tequila, Chipotle), we decided to switch it up and taste test some sandwiches. The sandwiches we got were from Pronto in downtown Lexington. We ordered a turkey bacon and havarti with the zesty jalapeno slaw sandwich along with a caprese roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and a Pesto/Mayo spread. The Caprese sandwich was $7.50 while the Turkey sandwich was $8.75.
We first indulged in the Turkey and Bacon sandwich which was very spicy and tangy. This sandwich was very flavorful with a pleasantly spicy kick. Quincy rated this one 8.5/10 and said that it was a good sandwich, however, the sauce was very overpowering. Since it is Dean’s favorite pronto sandwich, he gave it a 10/10. The sandwich was a little bit pricier than the other one but this is only because there are more ingredients packed into it. Overall, the Turkey and Bacon was a very good sandwich with an average score of 9.25/10.
The next sandwich we tried was the Caprese sandwich. This was different from the other sandwich in many different ways. Firstly, this sandwich had no spice to it, unlike the other one. It also had no meat so it was a little lighter on the stomach. Quincy gave this one a 9/10 and said that it was only better then the other sandwich because of how savory it was. Dean gave this sandwich a 8/10 and said that it was good but needed some spice. Overall this sandwich received a score of 8.5/10.
We now can conclude that Pronto is a seriously underrated sandwich spot in lexington. With many different varieties to choose from and lots of drinks to pair with, it’s hard to go wrong. For the overall rating we ranked the first sandwich higher than the second, but the first sandwich was a little bit more expensive which could play into decision makings. In conclusion, these are two amazing sandwiches which can be bought quickly and enjoyed thoroughly, but Dean liked the Turkey sandwich more while Quincy liked the Caprese sandwich more.
