Photojournalism or in more simple terms yearbook class! It’s the class you depend on to create the yearbook that many students enjoy every year. It’s the book everyone is excited to get their hands on. Fun memories of the school year filling the pages is what marks the end of another year of high school.

Photojournalism students, the staff that creates the magic of the yearbook, they work hard to fill the pages that you are able to relish at. Mr. Hamelman, the teacher of the class, is the one responsible for managing the students and making sure the yearbook is on track and finished by the end of the year. Mr. Hamelman puts a lot of work into the yearbook. The memories of the school year would not be documented for all to see if it wasn’t for Mr. Hamelman and all of the yearbook staff.

Everyone in the yearbook class work hard and are needed because they are all assigned something that makes the yearbook what it is. Without one of them the yearbook would most likely not be finished in time, meaning there would be no yearbook for the year, something a lot of students look forward to buying.

Yearbook staff member, Sierra Hostetter shares her opinion on the class.

“Yearbook is definitely my favorite class, I love all of the people in there, and it has made me take more notice to our school,” said Hostetter.

The yearbook staff seem to enjoy the class very much, everyone in the class makes a very welcoming and inviting atmosphere. The class and Mr. Hamelman welcomes any freshman that would like to join the class next year.

If you join the class, there are many different activities that you could be in charge of. For example, there is the process of creating a fun, colorful layout for the different pages. There is also the photography part of it, where you get to take photos for your page or others pages. If you’re interested in the writing of the yearbook, then you can write captions to capture what could be happening in photos and more.

Yes, the yearbook staff usually stays busy working hard to complete their pages, but they also are able to find some free time and take a break. You can observe the great friendships that have come out of the class.

Although it may seem like it takes a lot of responsibility to be in charge of a page, it can be fulfilling and Mr. Hamelman is there to help manage the work and keep everyone motivated. The staff are also very supportive in the process of creating a page and can be a great helping hand when help is needed.
