Mahomes and Brady Face Off in Super Bowl LV: A Before and After

On Feb. 7, 2021 Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady faced off in Tampa Bay to decide the winner of Super Bowl 55. This game is Brady’s 10th Super Bowl and seventh victory in his long-celebrated career. On the other hand, young phenom Patrick Mahomes is making his second appearance in his four year career. If Mahomes and the Chiefs are able to pull off the victory, they would be the most recent back-to-back champs since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in 2004 and 2005.

Before Watching: Tom Brady has played 21 years in the NFL. He contributed to one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history while playing for the New England Patriots. Brady, aged 43, has made the move to Tampa Bay, where he has taken the team to their first Super Bowl since 2003. This has arguably made Brady one of the greatest football players to ever live. However, on the other side of the field, is the 25-year-old phenom, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has been in the league for four years, and started for only three. In his three years, Mahomes has won the league MVP award, Super Bowl LIV, and Super Bowl MVP. His creative and electric style has evolved the play of quarterbacks, and it will continue to do so for years to come. So, will Sunday night in Tampa be a continuation of greatness, and leave zero doubts in people’s mind that Tom Brady is the GOAT or will this game serve as a passing of the torch from one of the greats to the young Mahomes.

After Watching: With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in the Super Bowl LV, Tom Brady has won his seventh Super Bowl. Brady performed efficiently, recording 21 completions for 201 yards, three TDS, and the Super Bowl MVP. Although Mahomes was consistently pressured due to the injuries suffered on the Kansas City offensive line he still was able to make remarkable throws downfield. Mahomes was running for his life hoping to find openings in the lockdown Tampa Bay defense, and he managed to record 26 completions for 270 yards and two interceptions. On the other side of the field, Quarterback Tom Brady utilized the play action pass to continue to score on the Kansas City defense.

It is safe to say that although he may be 43, Tom Brady is still able to produce fantastic Quarterback play and win yet another Super Bowl ring to add to his collection.
