Boys’ Basketball vs Waynesboro

On Jan. 19, the boys’ basketball team defeated Waynesboro with a final score of 58-52. The game started with points made from sophomores Jailik Lynch and Alex Balisteri. Lynch scored the first three points. Junior Harrison Hundley added several shots, but the ‘Cats could not keep up with the Little Giants, ending the first quarter with a score of 18-14.

The second quarter began with several points from senior Nathan Bailey, helping bring the ‘Cats ahead with a score to 31-29.

The third quarter had a continuously fluctuating score. Hundley, Balisteri, and Bailey were all contributing on better passes to try to even out the score.

Lynch and senior Byron Winchester scored several foul shots in the third quarter, which tied the score at 39-39.

“We had lost the night before, so it was important to bounce back and win the next game. We played really well and owned the court,” said Lynch.

In the final minutes of the game, Lynch and Hundley each made a three-pointer. As the ‘Cats were catching up, Lynch blocked a shot by Waynesboro, stole the ball, and made another three-pointer, finishing the game with a winning score of 58-52. Their current record is 10-5.
