This past Friday, August 27, Parry Mcluer and Rockbridge County went head to head for the yearly rivalry game. Due to covid, the teams were not able to have their normal match up last year so this game was very anticipated and had both schools ramped up. There was talk over social media, pranks, posts, anything those boys could do to get into each other’s heads. Parry McCluer ended their Friday school day with a pep rally to get hyped up for the game. Rockbridge was unable to have any pep rally but that didn’t stop the Cattitude illuminating throughout the school.

The Cats supported the team by wearing all white to drown out the Blues. From the kickoff, the energy at Robert E. “Bobby” Williams Field was electric. The student section was on fire every minute. Senior slot, Turner Cook led the Wildcats to a victory after scoring 2 touchdowns. Cook did an interview with other members of the Prowler that can be seen in the Wildcat Weekly.

Junior Braeden Hartbarger was injured during the second play of the first quarter. With a sprained MCL, Hartbarger is out for six weeks.

“I thought the team did very well. My injury definitely happened at a bad time but they really stepped up especially on the offensive line and got the job done.”

The Cats will take on the Western Albemarle Warriors this upcoming Friday.
