The Wrestling team traveled to Wilson Memorial High School on Dec 7. This was a tri-meet against Broadway High School and Wilson Memorial High School.

Rockbridge won the team matches against both schools. There were a few losses and difficult matches, but the team came out strong.

The team score for Rockbridge against Broadway was 48-30. The team score for Rockbridge against Wilson was 45-36.

Junior Tucker Towle was the only wrestler to go into an overtime match against Wilson.

“I honestly felt terrible, I was exhausted but knew I couldn’t let my team down, and when I won I was happy, it’s a great feeling to win a match,” said Towle.

The wrestling team has a full lineup this year for the first time since the 2019-2020 season, meaning they have wrestlers for all 14 weight classes. There is lots of improvement throughout the wrestlers individually with returning and new players.

“I think our team already having three wins against some teams we lost against in the past is pretty good…so I think we are on a good path this year,” said Towle.

Overall, the wrestlers did their best and supported each other throughout the matches to win the Tri-meet. The wrestling team has a great start to the season.

The next wrestling tournament will be at Hidden Valley High School on Dec. 9 and 10. To learn more about the wrestling team, visit the Rockbridge Athletics page.
