On Friday, Aug. 29, the Rockbridge County Wildcats traveled to Parry McCluer High School to play the first game of the season. This game was the first under the new head coach Zachary Rhodenizer.
The Wildcats came out swinging, scoring a field goal in the first quarter by senior Aiden Meyers, but were driven back by the Blues taking the lead with several touchdowns.
In the fourth quarter, the first Wildcat touchdown was scored by senior Andrew Kelly.
“I think the team did good as a whole. We had some good drives at the end of the day, we just couldn’t come out with a win,” Kelly said. The Wildcats lost 11-21.
The Wildcats’ next game is at Staunton on Sep 12.
