On Sept. 13, the Wildcats golf team played at Heritage Oaks Golf Course. They came in second with a 327, while Spotswood finished first with a 326. Third was Turner Ashby with a 350.

Andrew Mccoy, Sophomore, came in second place with a 77. Harrison Tanner, Freshman, is looking to be a star with a score of 80. Sophia Vargas, Senior and top cat, held the team together with a score of 81, placing her in 5th. Their solid performance means they achieved their goal of qualifying for regionals.

“Good day for the cats,” said David Miller, Head Coach of the RCHS golf team. “We’ve had different people counting, but our fourth score is always a little higher than it should be. If we can get all four of our scorers in the 85 or less range, I think we’ll have a good shot in regionals.”

He is very proud of the players, on and off the range and hopes more people will join the Rockbridge County golf team next year. The next match will be on the 20th of Sept. against Fort Defiance. Fort Defiance will be hosting Rockbridge County at their home course.
