Wawrzyniak Entertains His Followers From Home
Ever since schools were closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak, RCHS students have been finding creative ways to entertain themselves at home. Senior Josh Wawrzyniak has used social media to his advantage by creating and posting topic-based brackets to entertain himself and his followers.
“I started the brackets to provide myself with a bit of entertainment, but I’m happy that others are enjoying them, too,” said Wawrzyniak.
To put together a bracket, Wawrzyniak uses research to compile a list of contenders and then ranks them. The brackets are set up on Instagram stories where each matchup is voted for by his followers through polls. Wawrzyniak receives between 150 and 200 votes per matchup. Senior Dawson Kosmas has been voting in each of the brackets.
“Josh’s brackets have been a super fun way to keep engaged with friends during quarantine,” said Kosmas. “They have been an enjoyable substitute for all the sports that were cancelled because of the pandemic.”
Wawrzyniak has completed two polls: most influential American and best tasting snack. Martin Luther King Jr. was voted as the most influential American and Oreo cookies were voted as the best tasting snack. Wawrzyniak plans on doing a bracket for the best movie character next.
“I want to keep doing them since a good amount of people are participating and enjoying them,” said Wawrzyniak.
Junior Anna Vest follows Wawrzyniak and has been following the brackets, voting in each.
“Especially now, I see the same things over and over on social media, but this is something new,” said Vest. “It is really fun to see how the bracket plays out and if my picks have won each round or the whole thing.”
