Natural Bridge Speedway is a local racetrack that runs cars on a dirt surface. The track runs multiple classes of cars including Street Stocks, Purestocks, Sportsman, Latemodels, and Crates. For the most part, the racers are adults who have been racing since their early adulthood. However, there are a few teenagers that join the fun to mix it up every weekend.

One of those teenagers is Sophomore Jack Brown. Brown has been racing his whole life. From the age of four to eleven he raced a dirt bike all over the East Coast. For two years in a row, Brown competed in the Loretta Lynn race, the biggest amatuer national dirt bike race in the world. He finished sixteenth overall the first year and twentieth overall the next.

After racing a dirt bike, Brown decided to try racing go-karts on dirt tracks, also along the East Coast. While racing a kart, he raced in the Maxxis Nationals, an invitational race for the best racers in the nation. He also won the Providence Raceway Point Championship for his home track. Brown raced a kart until his freshman year of highschool, when he decided to change vehicles.

“We found a car and decided it was time for me to move up in the big racing world,” said Brown.

Since buying a car, he has raced in the Sportsman and Crate classes at Natural Bridge Speedway. At the age of fifteen, Brown has won five races in the short amount of time he has had a car. Brown races in Friday and Saturday night races at Natural Bridge Speedway. In order to be prepared for these long nights, much has to be done to the car.

“We spend all week getting things ready to race, “ said Brown.

While at Natural Bridge, Brown has not only learned about cars and victory, but also about life lessons.

“Racing has made me a better thinker in troubling situations,” said Brown. “It also taught me how to stay humble.”

Brown’s racing career is far from over and his friends and family are constantly cheering him on. From the early age of four, he has been dreaming of anything and everything with a throttle.

“I want to make it to the top ranks of late model racing and maybe NASCAR,” said Brown.
