Boys’ Basketball vs Covington

In their home opener the boys’ basketball team beat the Covington Cougars with a final score of 81-46. The ‘Cats were able to gain a quick lead with their strong offense. At the end of the first half the ‘Cats held a comfortable lead of 45-21.

Sophomore Alex Balisteri, junior Johnathan Mayo, and senior Byron Winchester each added double digits to their team’s score with 24 points, 10 points and 19 points respectively. Balisteri thinks the teams’ success is due to their tenacious attitude on the court.

“I think we played how we should every game, with high intensity and being focused all four quarters,” said Balisteri.

The team was able to win with their combination of physical and mental toughness. Balisteri credits this win to their selfless play.

“I think our greatest strength is we are all unselfish and play for each other,” said Balisteri.

This win brings the ‘Cats record to 2-1 at the start of the season.With the rest of their season ahead of them the ‘Cats plan to build off of this momentum and continue winning.
