The ‘Cats’ varsity softball team recently defeated Waynesboro High School in a final score of 17-2, with freshman Jaydyn Clemmer proving to be an important asset to the team. Clemmer hit two grand slams and drove in 10 runs.

“I love softball and being out on the field with my team, which is my favorite part of being on the team,” said Clemmer.

After earning the win over Waynesboro, the ‘Cats are now 8-3 for their season so far 10-6.

“The girls are doing really good, and I feel like we are progressing just like we need to,” said Coach Karen Clemmer.

Although losing a majority of seniors last year, this year’s team is adding new talent, along with returning players. The team’s captains include seniors Emily Agnor, Katie Baker, Lyla Chittum, Paige Clark, and Bryanna Davis. The team also has four juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen.

“Our captains always keep the team focused and ready to play,” said Jaydyn Clemmer. “Being on varsity is much more competitive than JV.”

The softball team has nine games remaining in their regular season, and are pushing through as a team to win more games.
