The RCHS Volleyball team defeated Staunton  3-2 on the road on Thursday, Sept. 8.  Junior Varsity started off the action with a 2-0 sweep of the storm.  They won the first set 25-18 and the second 25-22 to take the win.

The Varsity Volleyball team needed all 5 sets to claim a 3-2 victory. The ‘Cats  went back and forth with Staunton, winning the first, third, and fifth sets by scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 15-3, respectively.  This was the first victory over Staunton for new head coach, Kassidy Beagan.

Junior Sophie Vaught is an outside hitter on the varsity team. “We played well, but there were definitely some inconsistencies,” said Vaught.  “It was an up and down game, but we were able to stay focused throughout and win.”

The Wildcats are hoping to make a long run in the postseason this year.

“We want to go further than last year, and try to make states,” said Vaught.

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday Sept. 13 at Fort Defiance.
