Ronald Berry, Reporter

On Sept. 1, the Rockbridge County Golf team participated in their third of four district tournaments. The stars of the tournament were Sophomore Andrew McCoy, who scored 73 and was just two points shy of finishing as a medalist. Senior Sofia Vargas; who is one of two seniors on the team, finished with a score of 75 saying post match “I look forward to our next district match”.

Other notable performers included: Freshman Harrison Tanner, who finished with a score of 80 and an even par on the front nine. Sophomores Jack Jensen and Nic Vargas had great performances with scores of 86 and 96, respectfully. Senior Captain Abby Brooks finished with an 89.

As a whole, Rockbridge finished with a score of 314; a score that was good enough to get them second place, but only by one stroke, they lost to Spotswood High School. The team’s next match takes place on Sept. 13, at Heritage Oaks Golf Course.
