On Nov. 7, the Rockbridge County High School boys and girls swim team had their first practice, which started their winter season for the year of 2022.

The team and their coach, coach Erica Bisaillon, have been practicing for a little over three weeks at this point to prepare for upcoming meets. Coach Erica says practice has been going well.

“Practice has been going well, everyones been working hard,” says coach Erica, “[We have] seen improvement in the three weeks that we have been practicing,”

Bisaillon continued saying, “I think the team has a lot of potential and they are on track to do great things and or already have done great things,” says coach Erica, “I want them to do their best and get faster,”

The recurring team members are excited to be back because of how much fun the team had together during last year’s season.

“Our team is like a big family. We do tons of fun stuff together and it is always team building activities like team dinners, and team bonfires,” says senior captain Emma Watkins.

The team has positive things to say about the season so far.

“The year has been going really well so far, the practices are so much fun and I love coach Erica,” said junior Ieva Grundmane.

The team has a positive outlook on this year’s season and they are feeling confident that they will do well at their upcoming meets.

“My hope is that we get at least two relay teams to states this season,” says Watkins.

The team has a full schedule ahead of them. Their first meet was on Nov. 30 where the boys placed 2nd and the girls placed 3rd against Spotswood, Harrisonburg, Central, East Rockingham, and Broadway.
