Girls Basketball prepares for upcoming season

Basketball season started in November, and the girls basketball team are looking to make a statement this season. This year, the roster for girls basketball is: Lola Mulatalo, Brooklyn Beverly, Alexis Samante-Asuncion, Natalie Samante-Asuncion, Bella Dorey, Genesis McCoy, Madison Mangione, Kyra Strowbridge, Emma Mcknight, Ellie Mcknight, Gabriella Clark, Desirae Butler, and Cirrah Whitelow and is coached by Darrell Plogger and Ricardo Haston.

Last season, the girls basketball team had an overall record of 11-13.

Sophomore Kyra Strawbridge is number 1 and is eager to improve from last season.

“I’m looking forward to improving our record from last season and helping my teammates out in the best way I can,” Strowbridge said.

Senior Natalie Samante-Asuncion plays guard. She is a team captain and is filling the role of being a role model for her teammates.

“As a team captain, it’s my job to set an example to all of my teammates and keep the team together as a whole,” Samante-Asuncion said.

The girls basketball team is ready to show improvements from last season and are motivated to win.

Zach Watts is a senior at Rockbridge County High School and is a second year reporter for The Prowler, he is a member of the Hinojosa Boxing Club’s competitive boxing team and plans on competing in the Virginia State Silver Gloves in November. Zach Watts is also passionate about fishing. Outside of sports, he likes to spend time with friends and family, and watching sports and movies. This year, he is looking forward to going on the senior field trips and spending one more year in High School with his friends. After high school, he plans on attending a four year college.
