On Nov. 4, the Wildcat football team rolled into Bridegwater, Virginia to battle it out in their last season game against the Turner Ashby Knights.

After a dry first quarter with no points for either team, Senior Running Back Blake Matheny decorated the scoreboard with the first Wildcat touchdown of the night. The Knights responded with a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 going into the second half.

After two consecutive Knight touchdowns, Senior Running Back Daronde Stores rushed into the endzone to put the score at 14-21 in the fourth quarter. As the game concluded, the Knights sealed the deal by adding another two touchdowns, finishing the game with a final score of 14-35.

Senior defensive back Garret Stillwell emphasized the effort brought forth even though they fell short.

“Knowing that it was our last game did not sink in until after the game,” said Stillwell. “It gave us the drive needed to show them that we were stronger than expected.”

The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 4-6.
