On Jan. 25, 2022, the JV and varsity boys basketball teams faced off against the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks. For varsity, it was a close game for the majority of the quarters, however Harrisonburg prevailed with a victory of 55-45 over Rockbridge. The boy’s upcoming games are on Tuesday Jan 26, 2022 with a loss of 58-65 against Alleghany and Monday Jan 31, 2022 against Turner Ashby.

Certified hooper and all-around baller, Keaton Owsley, believes his team improved since their last game against Alleghany and Harrisonburg.

“We worked hard and improved greatly from the last time we played [these teams]. We played as a team. If we continue to, we will start to win games.”

On the same day, the JV boys basketball team had a major defeat of 50-28 against Harrisonburg High School. Keeping up with the losing track, they lost to Alleghany the next day. Not quite over double digits, the boys lost 12-55. Their next game is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2022, versus Turner Ashby in this district.

Zane Ramsey, a player on the JV team, has a critique on their performance and is looking forward to more teamwork.

“Personally, I think it was a tough game and very hard played. I think everyday I improve, my team does too. There is no time for dwelling over a loss when there are more chances to win. You should learn from your mistakes and use them to your advantage to become a better player. We played well overall as a team, but there is always improvements to be made. Nothing was too harsh after we lost, but we did take it to heart with a realization of what we will need to do next time we play.”
