Coming Home with a Win

Rockbridge County faced Broadway last Friday, Oct. 21, for the homecoming game. The Wildcats finished the game with a score of 21 to 14, with touchdowns from Nick Oyler, Blake Matheny, and Daronde Stores.

This is Rockbridge’s third win of the season. Senior Joshua Wright, almost brought in a fourth touchdown for the Wildcats; however there was a holding penalty that prevented the score.

Senior Ehren Watkins played in the game on Friday.

“I was really happy to come out with a win. It was a lot of pressure, definitely… I was really happy that [Josh Wright] was able to intercept it. It was called back, but as long as there was a turnover I was happy either way.”

Senior Daronde Stores also made an impressive play with a 91 yard touchdown, which had officially broken the tie with Broadway, with only 2:37 on the clock.

On Friday, Oct. 28, the Wildcats will be facing Harrisonburg for their last home game of the season.
