On Saturday, Jan. 28, the RCHS track team competed at the largest track meet in Virginia, the Bulldog Invitational, at Liberty University. Freshman Carlos Reynolds, junior Deborah Fashida, and senior River Hull all ran the 55 meter dash, with times of 8.59 seconds, 8.32 seconds, and 7.69 seconds, respectively.

“I had really low expectations coming in, but I’m really happy with how I did. I’m not the best runner but I feel good about my performance,” said Reynolds.

Seniors Evan Roney and Andrew Brannon both ran the 100 meter run, and Roney barely missed out on qualifying for nationals with his time of 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Freshman Dean Fafatas ran the mile, and gave his thoughts on his performance.

“I didn’t do as well as I had hoped, but there’s always something to take away. I’ll use this as motivation to get better and faster,” said Fafatas.

The track team’s next meet is at VMI on Thursday, Feb. 2.
