RCHS Book Club

Virginia Readers Choice

Virginia Readers’ Choice

Jacob Flint, Reporter

I know no one wants to be reading books outside of school, but have you guys ever considered the book club? RCHS started a school book club earlier this year, and it is all virtual, so you will not have to worry about coming to the school and risking getting sick.

The book club discusses books from the Virginia Readers’ Choice. Virginia Readers’ Choice is a program that encourages kids to start reading more. They pick one book each month of the school year, and there are a total of ten books every year. The books are picked through a voting process. To be able to vote, you have to read at least four of the books on the list (in your grade level), and you are only able to vote in attendance of a responsible adult. Voting starts March 1 and ends on April 30.

The book club currently has about eight members, and they hold a monthly meeting that lasts about 45 minutes towards the end of the month. To join the book club, email Mrs. Burks about joining. To read the books (or any other books) go to https://sites.google.com/rockbridge.k12.va.us/rchs-media-center and click the “Book Hub” tab and then search the book you want. Your username will be your lunch number. Now, what are you still doing here? Go get reading!
