YStreet is a youth-led organization that promotes healthy living in Virginia. More specifically they focus on clean air and providing sources of clean drinking water.

One of their campaigns is called “Share the Air.” This program focuses on having clean air.  In this case, that means they are focusing on keeping the air in public spaces tabaco free and clean.

The group is not anti-smoking and or vaping, but instead they are trying to keep the air clean so that others do not have to breathe the smoke in these other areas.

The other campaign is about clean water under the name of “Rev the Bev.” This campaign is focusing on getting clean water fountains that students can use to refill their reusable water bottles. Although at RCHS, these water stations are everywhere, not all schools have the same luxury in the way of having clean drinking water.

To go along with the promotion of clean water, the goal of “Rev the Bev” is to get everybody, not only youth, to drink water.

As mentioned previously, YStreet is totally run by student leadership. The purpose of this leadership is explained by the YStreet sponsor at RCHS Mrs. Amanda Grimm “The point of having it run by students is really to build leadership skills in our students,” said Grimm. Since it is run by students, it can also help student body engagement in the topics that are being promoted.
