On Sep 23, Netflix released the movie “Enola Holmes.” The film is based off of the first book in “The Enola Holmes Mysteries” series by Nancy Springer. This movie follows the adventures of Enola Holmes, the younger sister of the well-known Sherlock Holmes. Enola, played by Millie Bobby Brown, goes on a quest to solve the dissapearence of her mother. On her way to find her mother, played by Helena Boham Carter, Enola runs into Lord Teweksbury, played by Louis Partridge. Enola is faced with protecting Lord Teweksbury while trying to stay hidden from her brothers who are trying to force her to go to an all girls school.

The cast did an outstanding job portraying the roles of the characters. Milly Bobby Brown gave a very impressive performance by acting, doing all of her own stunts, and earning her first production credit. Throughout the movie, Enola is portrayed as smart, tough, and determined. Enola’s character traits reveal her to be even more clever in her clue finding and fierce in fighting off the enemy than her famous brother, Sherlock. Enola serves as a great role model for young girls today by serving in a role that in that time period, was traditionally reserved for a man. The interesting plot, talented cast, and good message of the movie are all reasons that “Enola Holmes” is one of the best movies Netflix has released this year.
