Football vs Turner Ashby

The Wildcat varsity football team scored a victory in their Homecoming game by defeating Turner Ashby High School by a score of 49-20.

Quarterback Ben Rhodenizer completed 22-of-28 passes for 545 yards with six touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions. Kicker Ellison Morel went 7-for-7 on extra point kicks.

The game started with Malik Dunn running 59 yards for a touchdown pass about five minutes into the first quarter. Turner Ashby responded with a touchdown of their own, but Johnny Dunn blocked their extra point attempt, ending the quarter with a score of 7-6.

The ‘Cats scored four more touchdowns in the second quarter. Jalik Lynch and Kyle Irvine each caught two, ending the first half with a score of 35-6.

During halftime, football player Triniti Stores and cheerleader Sullivan Ray were crowned Homecoming King and Queen. The freshman class was victorious over the expected winners, the junior class, in the week long Homecoming spirit competition, winning the spirit stick, and ended the junior’s two year winning streak.

Just 22 seconds into the third quarter, Rhodenhizer completed a pass to Lynch, scoring an 83 yard touchdown.

Turner Ashby began to cut into the ‘Cats lead, scoring two more touchdowns, one in the third quarter and one in the fourth, as well as scoring a two-point conversion pass.

With less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Stores scored the ‘Cats final touchdown, ending the night with a ‘Cats win and a score of 49-20.
