Chase Young is a defensive end for the Washington Football Team of the National Football League. Young was born and raised in Hyattsville, Md. From 2017 to 2019, he played for the Buckeyes at OSU. He broke the school’s single season sack record with 16.5 in his final season. He was voted an All-American and he also won several player of the year awards. He forgoed his senior year at OSU by declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft, where he was selected by Washington second overall. Considering it is his first year in the NFL, Young has had an exceptional season. He has 44 total tackles in the 15 games he has played this season.

On Sunday Dec. 13 2020, Young had one of the best games of his NFL career. He recorded six tackles, one sack, two QB hits, and two defended passes. Young forced a fumble that was then recovered and returned for a 47-yard touchdown,  that touchdown put the Redskins in the lead that they needed to win. His most recent game was on Jan. 9, 2021 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which he had five tackles total. The Redskins went on to lose that game albeit Young’s stellar performance.

Another one of Young’s best games was on Sunday Oct. 25, 2020 against the Dallas Cowboys. He had six total tackles, five of which were solo tackles and one of which was an assisted tackle.

From college, Young has been growing and making his career improve with each play and every game. He was named to the Pro Bowl, which is a big achievement for a rookie. In 2016, Young was invited to The Opening, which is a recruiting camp sponsored by Nike. There, he was named positional MVP.

Chase Young is only in the early stages of his career and yet has already done so much. If his contract holds, he will be with Washington for three more years. The Redskins are not in the playoffs this year, but Young still has the 21-22 season to continue his career.
