On Jan. 28, the girls basketball team lost to Central (Woodstock) with a final score of 36-73. This left the team with a record of 0-2 to begin their season.

Juniors Emily Mahood and Aiyanna Cooper contributed to the ‘Cat’s score, although it was not enough to win the game. Senior Tanya Suitte, guard/forward on the team, had some encouraging words to say about her teammates.

Emily and Aiyana had some amazing shots. I think as a team we played our hardest we did everything we could do. The entire team did great,” said Suitte.

The ‘Cats were limited on fouls against Central (Woodstock), but ran into problems in regards to rebounds. Junior Sage Marcum, forward on the team, picked up on these issues.

“There were just little things like rebounding we needed to work on and cutting out the second chance shots for Central Woodstock, if we could have done those little things the game was ours. Overall I am just grateful we got the opportunity to play,” said Marcum.

Since their game on Jan. 28, the girls basketball team has played two more games on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1 in which they won and lost respectively. Their record is now 1-3
