Girls Swim Crushes the Meet

On Jan. 30, the Wildcat’s Swim team competed in districts. The girls qualified for regionals in both the 400 freestyle relay and medley relay. Junior Ella Vaught swam the 500 freestyle in six minutes and three seconds, and Senior Izzy Pfaff swam the 100 fly in one minute and one second. Sophomore Ali Pfaff won both of her events swimming the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Pfaff has been in the swimming club since she was a kid, and has been on the High school swim team for three years.  “The meet went pretty well,” said Pfaff. “The girls won districts just like last year so that was really exciting, and all three of our relays made it to regionals”

Due to COVID, the team did not get a lot of preparation time for the meet, but they prepared the best they could nonetheless. “Given the circumstances I believe we did the best we could have done with the time we had to prepare,” said Pfaff.

The team will be competing in the regional meet on Feb. 4, and they are hoping to advance their events to states. “We’re hoping to be able to make it to states this year.”
