Competition Cheer Competes Again

On Sept. 28, The Rockbridge County Cheer Team competed in their second cheer competition of the season. The ‘Cats, competing at Spotswood High School, placed third out of ten teams from all over the state and second out of the teams in their district, falling to Spottswood. East Rockingham County won overall at the competition. 

Freshman Addie Flint said, “Our last [competition] went very well. We made lots of improvements from the first competition.”

The team plans to compete on Oct. 6 at Turner Ashby High School. This will be the first district cheer competition of the season as the ladies compete for the single spot to regionals. Over the next three district competitions, the Cheer Team will be fighting for points against other teams that will eventually determine the winner of the District and who continues onto Regionals. 

Flint said, “The next [competition] will go even better. Everyone is starting to get used to being on the mat and working together.”

Join the Cheer Team as they compete against five other teams on Oct. 6. The competition starts at 6:00 p.m. and the team plans to perform at 6:50 p.m..
