Golf Team celebrates second place at regions

Oct. 10 and Oct 11, 2022, the RCHS Golf Team will be competing at the state tournament. The team will travel to Stonehenge Golf Club in Richmond, VA. Oct. 10 will be the teams practice round. The tournament will officially begin on Oct. 11. 

Jack Jenson is a sophomore on the Golf Team this year. “All year we have worked really hard to get to states, so it is really cool to be able to go,” said Jensen

This season the team has practiced everyday using the Lexington Golf and Country Club’s driving range facilities, practice greens, and 6,500 yard par 71 Golf Course. The course the team will be tackling at States will be a new experience for many of the golfers measuring 7049 yards from the tips. 

The team finished second in their Regional Tournament which allowed them to advance to States. The Wildcats shot a team score of 331. This score will be competitive with other high schools the team will face at States. 

The Wildcats are going into this Tournament representing RCHS with positive atitiudes. 

“It would be really cool to win, but we do not have a specific goal other than to play to the best of our ability,” said Jensen.
