The Rockbridge County High School swim team competed at a prestigious competition in Charlottesville known as the Ben Hair Classic on Jan. 10.

Two Wildcat boys relay teams qualified for the state competition with their times and placed in the top of all of the district teams that attended the meet. The boys’ 200 yard free relay team placed third, with swimmers Keagan Black, Will Gibbs, Maxwell Pearson, and Spencer Pfaff providing great times.

Many of the other boys competed in events and placed in the top ten. On the boys side, the ‘Cats left Charlottesville with a fifth place finish in the 100 yard fly, a sixth place finish in the 50 yard free, and an eighth place finish in the 100 yard free.

On the girls’ side, the results were not as exciting.

Junior Greta Guse competed with the Lady Wildcats in the competition.

“The boys did amazing,” said Guse, “and even on the girls’ side, though the results weren’t exactly what we wanted, everyone still swam really great.”

Guse also said she was excited to see what the rest of the season will bring, especially the next meet which will be on Jan. 14. The ‘Cats will take on multiple other schools at the Gator Aquatic Center in Roanoke, Virginia, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Stay tuned for more success from RCHS’ dedicated swimmers!
