On Saturday Jan 28, the RCHS swim team traveled to Harrisonburg for districts. The boys came out on top,  they are the 2023 Valley District champions. 

Seniors Ali Pfaff and Will Gibbs are the swimmers of the year. 

“It felt amazing to win the district swim meet. The swim team has been overcoming challenges and working really hard this season, and it felt great to finally have that pay off,” said Gibbs “The Swimmer of the Year award was a real surprise for me, but it was very motivating to achieve. It showed me that my hard work had paid off and to keep up the hard work.” 

           Also, their coach Erica Bizzalion got named Coach of the Year. 

“The Coach of the Year award was well deserved. Through all the challenges and hiccups, our coach, Erica Bisaillon, helped us push through and keep going at it,” said Gibbs. 

The cats have worked so hard for this trophy. Be sure to cheer on the cats at regionals. Regionals will take place on Feb 7, at 11am in Charlottesville at the YMCA.
