On Sunday, February 8th, in Santa Clara, California, the Seattle Seahawks faced off against the New England Patriots for Super Bowl 60. The biggest football game of the year was dominated by Seattle, beating the Patriots 29-13.
Going into the playoffs, Seattle had an excellent season with a 14-3 record. In the playoffs, they have dominated other teams like the San Francisco 49ers, beating them 41-6 in the divisional round. Then, in the NFC championship, they beat the Rams 31-27.
The Seahawks are led by their quarterback, Sam Darnold. This was Sam Darnold’s first season with the Seahawks. Last year with the Minnesota Vikings, he started after JJ McCarthy’s injury. He led the team to go 14-3 and established his name in the NFL.
That season led to him signing with the Seattle Seahawks for the 2025 season. In the regular season, he passed over 4000 yards and threw 25 touchdowns.
What most people would consider the Seahawks strongest advantage over the Patriots is their defense. They had 47 sacks, 18 interceptions, and only allowed an average of 285 yards per game. Ernest Jones led the team in tackles with 126 tackles and 5 interceptions.
During the Super Bowl, the Seahawks’ defense did not disappoint. They had six sacks, two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six, and one fumble recovery. In the first three quarters, they only allowed the Patriots 78 yards. The Patriots only scored 13 points the entire game.
Sam Darnold had a decent performance with 202 passing yards and a 50% completion rate. The real offensive performer for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl was Jason Myers, who scored 17 points, the most ever scored by a kicker in a Super Bowl, and the most points on the entire team. He had five field goals and two extra points. As a whole, the Seahawks played a very dominant game, with a strong defensive performance and an excellent special teams performance.
