As the spring athletics season begins, the girls soccer team welcomes Carrie Dietz as the new head coach. A long time member of soccer coaching staff, Dietz has held JV coaching positions, assistant varsity and varsity head coach with multiple teams over a 13 year career. Dietz joined the RCHS staff in 2020 but has only been assisting the soccer team for 3 years.
“Coaching has been a passion of mine. Working with the team and getting to know students in a different way while sharing a common passion is a wonderful experience,” Dietz said.
This year, after the previous head coach Danny Wheeler stepped down, Dietz stepped into the position. The main challenge Dietz is facing is that a large number of seniors graduated at the end of the previous season and the team is still rebuilding its numbers.
Despite this, Dietz still has a positive outlook for the season stating in an interview.
“We hope to have a great season with lots of positive experiences. My goals for this year are to not only win some games but to help the girls build lifelong skills and relationships” Dietz said.
“The girls soccer team here holds a special place in my heart. They are so positive, hard workers, and overall great people to be around,” Dietz said.
The girls soccer team has their next home game on March 20 against Wilson Memorial. Come out and support them.
