The ‘Cats third annual home cheerleading competition, also known as Cheerfest was held on Wednesday, Oct 4 2017.

Seven schools competed including James River, Spotswood, Stanton River, Jefferson Forest, Wilson Memorial, and Liberty High School.

The ‘Cats came in fifth place, with a score of 162. Jefferson Forest, Wilson Memorial, and Spotswood took first, second, and third respectively.

Even though the ‘Cats did not win, the captain of the squad, senior Dana Adams was very proud of her fellow teammates.

“We were all really nervous since it was our first competition and I thought everyone did a good job keeping their cool and putting their best effort into it” said Adams.

Head coach, Crissie Abell was pleased with how her team performed, but saw areas that her team needs to improve in.

“We have a lot to work on before districts, but we worked hard and did very well, we just have to work on our executions and some of our advanced stunts” said Abell.
