The January Clash of Clans update brings diverse balance changes, an equipment blast event, and a desert-nights themed season pass. The introduction of new features helps keep the player-base engaged and combat fair.
The balance changes offer nerfs to troops that were dominating in the current PvP format. These nerfs include a 50 percent wall damage multiplier decrease for the meteor golem troop and a decreased splash radius for the defensive long shot for levels 1-5. Conversely, the balance changes buffed weaker and lesser used items.
The super witch troop received an increase in housing space from 10 to 20 for its spawned troops, the heroic torch’s damage reduction was increased for all levels by 50-200 percent and the lavaloon puppet gear now has an increased spawn rate from 2-3 for levels 21-27. The update introduced numerous other balance changes, but they were minor and did not significantly affect gameplay.
The equipment blast event is similar to events Clash of Clans has offered in the past, but it provides more equipment in the event shop. Equipment is key for gaining resources, which makes this event appealing for all new and experienced players. By collecting dynamite through attacking other player’s bases, relic medals can be unlocked in the event list. Relic medals allow for the purchase of resources, a variety of equipment, and the newly introduced grand sorcerer hero skin.
The desert-nights season pass has unique hero skins and maps. Purchasing the gold pass immediately gives the player a desert king hero skin, whereas the rest of the season-unique skins are available for purchase in the shop.
All and all, the new update in Clash of Clans benefited the playerbase by supporting players’ complaints and adding exciting features.
