The Cat Crew Bakery is a school organized group of students apart from hospitality that bake cookies and other sweet treats for the students and staff of RCHS during the school year. Every year during the winter holidays and spring break, the Cat Crew opens back up with fantastic and yummy treats every year; with the classic cookies we know and love. For the sweet price of $2.00 per cookie, the bakery is always a hit when they open up.
Junior Kimora Carter, who is a part of hospitality and the Cat Crew Bakery, talked about the group, how they operate behind the scenes, and how this helps out our RCHS community.
“It’s a great way to give back to the community and our school, and to help provide people with food right before break,” Carter said.
Carter then explains what treats they are offering for this holiday season.
“We’re doing brookies, chocolate chip cookies, spice coffee cake, pumpkin cinnamon rolls, apple turnovers, and snickerdoodle cookies,” Carter said.
Junior Risa Penney, described the entire process on making the sweet treats, and the steps hospitality took to get it all done
“So during class one day, we all sat down and decided what desserts or cookies we wanted to make. And then we made the flyers, and found the recipes for every single dessert. And then the week before we started making everything. It took us probably four or five days to make everything, and then we packaged them all up and passed out orders.” Penney said.
These cookies were available to order until Nov. 14, and were passed out before Thanksgiving break started. The bakery ended up being very successful, with around 50 sales! All of these sales resulted in raising 300$ for the hospitality class. With the next planned sale being during next semester, be sure to order and support our Cat Crew bakery, and enjoy some delicious treats!
