Every year, the Trivium, Rockbridge County High School’s photojournalism program, hosts a movie night at Hull’s Drive In to fundraise for the yearbook.
Students on the staff plan and run raffles, games, and create a mini parody film to make the night even more special.
“We did lots of things like [a] 50/50 raffle, vampire trivia, a sparkle booth this year, which is really fun, vampire wiffle ball, kind of like the baseball scene, just all these little things related to Twilight,” said assistant Editor-in-Chief Willow Rogers, who has been on the Trivium staff since her sophomore year.
“Twilight,” a 2008 movie adaptation of a book of the same name, focuses on the romance of an ordinary girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward, set in the Pacific Northwest.
Senior Sierra Hostetter shares why “Twilight” was the right pick for the Trivium.
“We [the Trivium] have wanted to choose “Twilight” for a while now,” Hostetter said. “We had a lot of success last year with ‘Hunger Games’ and it being more of a teen-forward movie.”
The movie night was hosted at the local drive-in movie theater, Hull’s, on March 21. Gates opened at 6:00, and various games and raffles were hosted by Trivium staff volunteers before the movie started at 7:30.
The Trivium staff worked hard to put an event together that every student and their parents would enjoy.
Trivium Editor-in-Chief and senior Claire Sigler elaborates on the success of the movie fundraiser, especially the short movie shown before the film started.
“The Trivium movie night was very successful. We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time. It was awesome to see the short film we had created in class on the big screen and to see the community’s reaction to it. The whole event went smoothly and I think the staff did a great job working together to plan it!” Sigler said.
