This April the full album,“Dandelion”, was released. “Choosin’ Texas” by Ella Langley was released last Oct. 17 and was a hit. Reaching No.1 in February/March of this year. I loved this song, the catchy tune and relatable lyrics. It had it all, but it was only a sneak peak of the album to come. I will be ranking my 3 favorite songs and explaining the reason behind my least favorite.

Of course my favorite on the album was one we all saw coming, “Choosin’ Texas”. Co-written by Miranda Lambert the lyrics of this song connect with the listener on a personal level. It tells the story of a girl who travelled back to Texas with her boyfriend only to be left behind when he chose the other girl. The main girl is from Tennessee and realizes her boyfriend loves the other while she sees them dancing. Don’t be fooled by the catchy tune; this song is emotional, but not overpowering. I rank this a 10/10 because after having it stuck in my head for weeks I still love it.
Next up on the list, “Be Her.” I know these are popular songs, but they’re popular for a reason. This song is about jealousy and wanting to be someone else. Langley compares all of her flaws to those of another girl who seems almost perfect. Describing how it seems everything she does the other girl does better. The lyrics are impactful and creative, but also really repetitive. I rank this

song a 8/10. It was a good song, but lacked different lyrics.
Lastly, “Dandelion.” I wasn’t completely blown away, but it was still really good. This slower song added a break from the fast paced break up tunes. I was such a fan of “Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas” this song just lacked a vibe. The good parts about the song that stands out among the album and the theme to not dismiss the “common weed” is a message for all. I give this song a 7.3/10.
My least favorite song on this album was, “Most Good Things Do”. I am not just hating on it because of its long title, it was just lacking the emotional connection. Compared to the other songs the lyrics just weren’t good. It wasn’t my least favorite of her songs in general, but it was definitely last on the album.
Overall this album was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone I came across. About 54% of students enjoyed this album, while only 45% did not. The student body gives this album 3 out of 5 stars. I rate this album a 4 out of 5 stars. If you need a song for after a break-up, finding love, or falling out of it this album has a song for you.
