My name is Diya Gandhi, and this is the fifth installment of the Prowler’s Culture Corner. In this section, I will be recommending something to read, something to listen to, something to wear, and something to drink. Let’s get into it!
One thing to read is “Rewire” by Nicole Vignola. This is a self-help book that explains how to use neuroplasticity to change negative thought patterns and improve well-being. I would recommend this book because it completely changed my outlook on life and inspired me to think more positively. “Rewire” is available at the Rockbridge Regional Library, and it typically costs around $13.99. If you are interested in personal growth and learning about the brain, you will definitely enjoy this book!
One thing to listen to is “Cruel World” by Holly Humberstone. “Cruel World” was released on April 10, and it is Humberstone’s second studio album. This album combines pop sounds with a melancholic vibe and confessional lyrics. Humberstone is an incredibly talented artist, and her music is very underrated. “Cruel World” demonstrates her outstanding vocals and attention to artistic detail. For more information, you can check out an in-depth review of the album here, and you can listen to the album on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms.
One thing to wear are bangles. I wear bangles almost every day, and they are definitely my most worn accessory. They go with everything: whether you’re dressing up or wearing a comfy outfit. I like to wear a set of simple gold ones for everyday use, but there are many different kinds of bangles and ways to style them. For example, you can combine thin and chunky bangles and experiment with different designs. If you want to purchase an affordable set of bangles, some places to look at would be Amazon and Etsy.
Lastly, one thing to drink are iced matcha lattes. The first time I tasted matcha, I was actually quite disappointed. However, I kept on trying it, and I soon became obsessed. Matcha lattes have a very light and earthy flavor, and they are a cozy and comforting drink. After drinking a matcha latte, I feel a lot more focused and calm. Not to mention, matcha can be a healthier option for those who do not enjoy sugary or heavily-caffeinated drinks. After giving iced matcha lattes several tries, I can now say that they are my favorite drink. I would recommend getting matcha at Pronto, because theirs has a rich, earthy flavor.
These are some things that I love, and I hope you can enjoy them as much as I do!
