“Friend’s Like These” is a three episode docuseries that started streaming on Hulu March 6. You can also watch the show on Disney+ if you have the Hulu Bundle. The show follows the muder of Skyler Neese in a small town in West Virginia. Neese went missing on July six ,2012 at midnight after climbing out her window. The next morning her dad went to get her up for school and noticed her bed was not slept in and her window was open. After the police were contacted, they started an interview with her two best friends Sheila Eddy and Rachel Shoaf. Eddy was Skyler’s best friend since they were eight. Shoaf was super religious and spent most of the time at church camp. The police started with Eddy since she was Skyler’s best friend.
After hearing what happened from Eddy they interviewed Shoaf next. The police discover that the two girls, stories were the same, almost like they were planned.
After not finding any more information the FBI decided to conduct a polygraph test. A polygraph test is a test that can tell if you are lying by your blood pressure, heart rate, or breathing. The FBI had Eddy take the test first. They asked her the same questions as before and she failed the test. After Eddy took the test they connected Shoaf next. The day that Shoaf planned to take the test she did not show. The next day ,the FBI received a call from Shoaf’s lawyer saying she was ready to talk. When they walked in ,she was crying and seemed very upset. When she was asked what happened, she said that she and Eddy stabbed Neese. Shaof said the motive for the killing was “They did not want to be friends with her anymore.”
In court , Shoaf said that they planned the killing because she and Eddy were in a secret relationship and did not want Neese to tell anyone. Her hope was to try and lessen her sentence, but failed.

While on the hunt for Neese, her parents started a petition to change the Amber Alert system. After the court hearing, they got it passed. Now if any kid goes missing, they can send out an Amber Alert to help get the word out.
The documentary was so good and kept me wanting more. The interviews with the family and friends helped give an idea of how the friends worked together in school. I also really enjoyed having videos of the girls that they took on their phones and photos of them to see how they were in high school. The small details of the documentary really add to the story and make the viewer want more. It really helped me get an idea of what made the friends commit to muder. I also conducted some research on the topic to get a deeper dive of what really happened and to find the real motive of the story. The story is really sad and has some emotional elements, so watch at your own risk. The documentary is rated TV-MA and consists of violent language that many visual images and may be hard for some viewers.
If you are into muder mystery and love a good police case to follow, then this documentary is for you. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a new show to watch or something new to learn. The show is really good and shocking every second. This documentary is perfect for a weekend.
