Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, is it worth the watch?

The highly anticipated movie, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which was released in December of 2022, a sequel to the original Puss in Boots released in 2011, is it worth the watch?

This movie is also an adaptation of the book Puss in Boots written by Jerry Pinkney in 1991. This portrays boots as a person who can easily persuade people to aid him without the use of violence. Unlike the newest version where he is often seen fighting to get what he wants. The original version is an adventure story which is similar to the new one which is also action-adventure with a twist of drama near the end.

Antonio Banderas the voice actor for Puss in Boots in both the original and new version. In both films he is very adventurous and he plays the role well by showing emotion through his voice alone. The new film is the first time true fear is shown through boots by tone. In the original film he is careless and never displays fear and is always confident in his actions.

Director Joel Crawford, co-directors Januel Mercado, and writers Paul Fisher, Tommy Swerdlow, and Tom Wheeler do a good job animating and creating a plot that is not only action packed but shows how a character can change throughout a movie and portrays how important life is. In the 2011 version directed by Chris Miller he has a different take and he portrays Boots as a nonchalant hero who is willing to risk his life over and over again to protect innocent people in cities he’s traveling through. This comparison of Boots in different films shows how although he is careless with his life, once he is faced with death he can be caring and filled with fear of death.

The plot of the new movie is good, easily keeping the watcher entertained while also making the viewer feel compassion and sadness for Puss. It is very easy to be drawn in with the visuals and scenery that is very vibrant and action packed that is well animated. Although it is very similar to past movies the twist of drama and the incorporation of many different fairy tales keeps the viewer watching. The ending is very satisfactory and it ends with the defeat of the antagonists and a sense of adoration during the end. The compassion Boots shows for all his friends is awing and it makes the viewer fall in love with his character.

According to Audience Reviews on Google, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish received a 4.8 out of 5.0 rating by the audience due to all the amazing factors and elements the director incorporated in the movie.
