With all of this time inside due to the pandemic, one good way to pass the time is to watch shows. There are so many shows on so many different streaming sites. Which one could you possibly choose? How about a bit of nostalgia by watching older sitcom shows from Nickelodeon? Netflix has added a couple of these shows, and now is the best time to watch them. One of these early comedy shows is ICarly.

ICarly is about two friends, Carly and Sam, who decide to do an internet webshow. They are assisted by Freddy, Carly’s next-door neighbor, who is their cameraman and technical producer. Their webshow is about showing many random clips that are aimed to be comical or weird. The show itself, however, is about the many hijinks and situations that our three characters, and sometimes Carly’s brother Spencer, get into. These situations vary from  rescuing a bunch of baby chicks because they escaped, or trying to get a good review for their webshow.

Although ICarly is a bit dated, being that it first appeared on Nickelodeon in 2007, it still has its moments in the present day. Its use of the laugh track sometimes does not help the jokes, as it only seems to draw out the humourless jokes with a fake virtual audience. It also can get a bit annoying with every joke being followed by the fake laughter. Despite this problem of fake laughter, ICarly is able to push through the laugh track with some good jokes, even if it is followed by it.

Even with the passage of time, ICarly still has its comedic skill with its wacky situations that the cast finds itself in. These types of situations coupled with an even funnier and crazier cast makes this show fun to watch. Sure, the humor itself may be childish, but a nostalgic watch through an old show cannot hurt. It will be a fun blast from the past to watch during the free time the pandemic has given you.
