As another academic season begins, students and staff are greeted by a familiar face. Christine Szarzynski returns to teaching English 9 and 11 after being at Rockingham County Public Schools last year.
She has a long and distinct history teaching, “I taught for Piedmont Virginia Community College as well as the women’s prison community college classes,” Szarsynski said.
Szarsynski sees a lot of similarities between Rockingham and Rockbridge, and she enjoys both. However the main reason that she moved back to Rockbridge was for getting married to her husband.
Aside from teaching English she enjoys spending her free time, “…helping take care of the cows, gardening, reading, and singing” Szarzynski said.
Living on a farm gives Szarzynski many opportunities to work outside and foster interactive hands-on hobbies. Having these types of hobbies outdoors is a stress relieving way to spend an afternoon.
Her favorite aspects here at Rockbridge County Highschool are, “…the energy, diversity and sense of community” said Szarzynski.
With a passion for teaching and a drive to be active in our school’s community, Mrs.Szarzynski looks forward to another year teaching English here at Rockbridge.
