As Christmas approaches, many families around Rockbridge are in need of food, supplies, and toys. Rockbridge Christmas Baskets lends a hand to help solve the persistent issue. The primary goal of Rockbridge Christmas Baskets is to donate to local communities through the bagging and distribution of bags filled with various requested items.
With the task being so heavy, Rockbridge Christmas Baskets receives help from a variety of associations in Rockbridge. National Honors Society is the predominant source of donations towards Rockbridge Christmas Baskets at RCHS. Senior and member of NHS Liam Stillwell has been in NHS since his sophomore year and is attending the Christmas Baskets event.
Although for NHS attending is an exclusively senior event, Stillwell has helped support Christmas Baskets in previous years. “In past years, I’ve helped out the community with Christmas Baskets on my own time. In the past it has been an individual effort, but I have received help from various other seniors who have gone as NHS members,” Stillwell said.
As a part of NHS, Stillwell wants to give back to the community through Christmas baskets. “It’s a really great opportunity to give back to the community. It’s fun to spend time with people you know well and to be doing something that helps other people. I really enjoy being able to spend half of a day helping others with Christmas baskets,” Stillwell said.
