Mariann Wolfe has taught English at Rockbridge County High School for the past five years. While most teachers show up with a cup of coffee and a stack of papers, Wolfe arrives wearing a glittering tiara proudly on her head.
Soon, tiaras on Tuesdays became a weekly tradition. Every Tuesday Ms. Wolfe picks from her selection of 18 tiaras and wears it proudly to school. The idea began outside the classroom.
“It started because I used to go to Michigan in the summer and ring hand bells, and wear tiaras. I can’t go anymore, so I started doing this in solidarity with my bell friends in Michigan,” Wolfe said.
In Room 108, English class is more than reading essays and learning new vocabulary words—it’s about feeling confident enough to express yourself. Ms. Wolfe believes that everyone’s voice is important, and she uses the tiara as a reminder that every student deserves to shine.
Faculty and staff were asked their opinions on Tiara Tuesdays.
“I love Tiara Tuesdays because it reminds me that Monday is over,” Michellle Steiner said.
What started as a simple piece of costume jewelry has turned into a symbol of courage and creativity. Wolfe’s tiaras show that learning doesn’t have to be boring. With a little confidence and a lot of heart, even a normal Tuesday can feel magical with the help of Wolfe’s Tiara Tuesdays!
