As we approach the end of the school year, seniors at RCHS are finalizing their decisions for college.
Students can choose to have a current picture of them, a picture of them as a child, and the name of the college they chose, posted on the RCHS decision page on Instagram.
Ava Crocker has decided to attend Virginia Commonwealth University, located in Richmond, Virginia, to study social work. Her decision was posted on Feb. 18.
A lot of factors play into picking a college, whether it be because of the academics, personal connection, or how it just fits you. “I’ve always kinda known I wanted to go to VCU; my dad and grandma went there and I grew up exploring Richmond,” Crocker said.
Not only is the campus important when choosing a college, what surrounds that campus matters too. “Richmond is the perfect mix of historic and modern architecture and diverse community,” Crocker said.
Thomas Jones has chosen to attend Hampden Sydney College, located in Prince Edward County, Virginia. He is studying business marketing and communications. His decision was posted on Feb. 18.
The way you feel when exploring through different campuses can help solidify your decision. “I just loved everything I saw on all my tours and knew instantly I wanted to go there,” Jones said.
Willow Rogers has decided to attend James Madison University, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is set on studying kinesiology. Her decision was posted on Feb. 15.
Being able to participate in something as serious as college, you must love it. “It was a moment that as soon as I went there I fell in love and knew I couldn’t see myself anywhere else,” Rogers said.
Finding a college that fits exactly what you need is hard to come by sometimes, so when you find that, don’t miss the opportunity to explore it. “The JMU program sets me up perfectly to be an occupational therapist one day which is the end goal,” Rogers said.
These students have spent years together here at RCHS and now are setting out into a new chapter. As we continue on in the year, more and more seniors will commit to their future paths.
